With the focus on building your business SMP
allows you to create "projects" in which one or many of your team
can participate.
With Projects you can:
- Manage activities and tasks
- Assign activities and tasks to others
- Keep detailed notes
- Log products that are involved in the project as well as sale potential and goals
- Add additional influences (contacts) involved in the
project
- Add additional customers involved in the project
- Add additional sales people from your organization
Both buttons below, which are located on the tool bar, will
allow you to work with projects.
Projects (Prj) Work
with 1 project at a time
Projects Review (Prjs)
Allows you to filter and view all projects
- Filter projects by many criteria.
- ie: you can filter all projects with a particular
Project Manager, for all won or open projects, for projects pertaining
to a particular product level. etc
- View Total $ and Probable $ for the filtered projects
- Clicking the Hyper-link project name takes you to the
Project form for additional details or updating
Add a project:
- Click the Add button from either Projects or Project
Management. Projects can not be added from within the customer
module.
- Project Ref-Enter a name for the project
- Customer - Select the customer from the drop down list
- Account manager - This will automatically fill in
- Project Manager. The Project manager might be the Account
Manager or someone else who is involved such as a specialist.
- Decision Date - The date a decision should be made
- Select Type, Priority and Status
Activity Tab -
- Enter the Activities and Tasks necessary to
complete the project. See Activities
for more information on entering Activities and Tasks .
- From within the activity assign the task to the
appropriate person
Notes
- Enter an unlimited amount of notes about the project
Products
- For any of the Product grouping you can reference which
products are involved in the project.
- Note who the competition is for the product. The competition
can either be another distributor or another Manufacturer.
- Set the Total Potential $ and the Probable % of the sale
you expect to win. The Probable $ is automatically calculated.
Influences (Contacts)
- Choose all the customer contacts in the "Add new
Influence" drop down that have a role in the success or fulfillment
of the project. Click "Add"
- If a contact is not listed, Click "Add New Cntct"
This will take you to the Customer Module
to add any additional contacts
- Describe the role this contact takes in the project
- Any communication information on the contact will
automatically fill in the window on the right. Updating information here
will update the information in the Customer Module.
Additional Customers
- Often times another customer may be part of a project.
List any additional customers here
- Locate customer in the "Add New Customer"
, Click "Add"
- Describe the role this customer plays in the project
Additional Sales People
- Choose all sales people from your organization that play
a role in this project from the Drop down and click "add"
- Describe their Role
To filter projects:
From the Project Management Screen 
- Select the criteria you wish to filter for. The default
is set to "all open Projects"
- Hit "Run"
- Your results are displayed in the window
Printing Projects
To print a summary of filtered projects click print. The
report will print to Excel where you can manipulate the data before
sending it to your printer
