Text Box: Delivery Problems explained: I don’t have all the answers as to why an email addresses bounces especially when it looks correct but the most common reason is the receiving mail server does not recognize the address. The email address may no longer be good or there may be something wrong with the way the email address is formatted. Other problems may be recipients Mail Box is full or the receiving email server may suspect the emailer is Spam.

Any email that is returned is flagged with the returned date in List Manager. Emails are still sent to addresses that get returned until that recipient is removed from the list. You will see, over the course of time, that some email addresses that bounced once will no longer bounce which indicates that the email went through the next time it was sent.

Delivery Problem: If an email address was returned as undeliverable the date will be stamped here.

Creating a newsletter

Text Box: In this example I am editing the September newsletter

Adding an opening Message:

Messages are custom text paragraphs that you write. They are inserted into your newsletter at the very top, just below your header.

The Message can be used to promote an Open House, training Seminar, new service you are offering, or even promoting a vendor line. You have the opportunity to create up to 3 separate messages per newsletter. Keep them short and to the point. You can also create a hyperlink that the recipient can click to get more information for yours or another web site

Subject Line: This is the subject of the Emailer as it appears in the recipients mailbox. Keep the Subject short but also make sure that it does not sound like spam or contain any Spammy type words such as Sale, Profit etc. Also do not use all capital letters and only one exclamation point. This is a required field.

Bolded Title 1: The Bolded Title 1 is a colored bolded text intro to your message. If you don’t enter anything in here than your message will not display.

Message Body:  The message body can be any length you want. It can be written in plain text or in HTML. If you choose to use HTML you can add formatting, colors, hyperlinks, even graphics to your newsletter. If you have written your message in Text and need to make a paragraph break insert this tag <p> at the end of a paragraph including the great than > and less than< symbols

Hyperlink Path - This is the complete URL to the web page you would like your customer to go to. This must include the http:// as in the example above

Hyperlink Name: This is the text that will be displayed in the newsletter for the hyperlink

Once you have created your message you must click the “Save Message” button. You will received a “Your Opening Message has been saved” message.

You can go back and change your message any time up to the scheduled date, which is your cut off date.

Using the Content-on-Demand Product library

This is where you will build the body of your newsletter for the selected month.

Select your manufacturer of choice (Due to the large amount of content available choosing ALL will take a long time to load. It is recommended that you choose a manufacturer).

Select the “Select Content” button. The library of content will build based on the manufacturer criteria you set.

You will be able to scroll down and see all the content available.

To select or deselect content:

  1. To the left of every content brief is a check box labeled Select and a dropdown list labeled Order Number
  2. Select a brief by checking the select box, deselect a brief by unchecking the select box.
  3. Click “Save Selection” button

Set the order the content appears

  1. Set the order your content should appear by using the “Order Number” dropdown list

Once you have saved selections any time you bring up more content the selected content will always be the first one seen. In the example above I asked to see all the Hoffman product briefs, however since the CompactLogix Contoller had been previously selected it will continue to appear in the order placed so you can get and idea of how the briefs look all together. Always Save your selections before leaving the page.

View Emailer

Anytime you want to see how the newsletter is looking and to test any links you can select “View Emailer”. This will bring up a completed copy of the newsletter.

Back To List

You can return to the main list of newsletters anytime by selecting “Back to List”

Sending your emailer

When you are satisfied with your Newsletter check the "Approved For Deliver" box. This will automatically send a test email to TMMG who can then approve it for final sending. Emails are scheduled to send in the early AM . If you want your newsletter to send the day after checking be sure to release it by Noon.
